About Amber Support
Hello, I am Lesley-Anne of Amber Support and Consultancy
I provide a unique care service which is designed to offer a complete package of care. This can include personal care, washing, dressing, supporting and providing meals, activities and general wellbeing support.
I also provide a specific care service which is designed for individuals recovering from a stroke or brain injury.
For all individuals either living with dementia or other challenges I provide a companionship and care provision suitable for all. I undertake a wide range of activities with those to whom I care for which is completely driven by their hobbies and likes, their current abilities and takes into account the individuals wants and needs.
Amber Support does not have a recurring visit programme, this is what makes my service unique. The activities will be different on every single visit which assists in keeping my clients engaged, alert, happy, and making sure they have access to a variety of activities and interests.
Some activities may take place over a couple of visits, especially art projects, so my clients can be truly involved and see their projects grow.
I am extensively trained and am up to date on all of my mandatory training and can send you the up-to-date list of training and qualifications. I am fully insured to £10 million, and I have an enhanced DBS registration. I am also a registered care provider with West Sussex County Council.
As you probably know, dementia is an incredibly challenging disease, and the affect and effect it has on the whole family is extremely difficult to negotiate.
My service is designed to provide respite, support, understanding, advice and comfort to the primary carer and to engage and empower the person with dementia.
I do not just pop in and out; Amber Support is designed to find a way to bring back some equilibrium to the family and see life again without dementia. It’s tricky, but it can work with the right tools and skills.
Amber Support is not a drop-in and out service with no engagement. I pride myself on delivering a comprehensive care provision including nutrition, hydration, interaction, personal care, wellbeing care, support and engagement. I do not just pop in and make a meal; I try to engage the person in the process to help them with their life skills.
On each visit, I always try to include some mind gym exercises, an activity such as art, craft or quizzes, and also some reminiscence activities which is where I use my iPad to look back on places lived, favourite holiday destinations or places of work. This is very empowering to many of my clients and really does work to engage and enhance any visits I make.
I create playlists for each client so that during my visits they can listen to music that they love whilst we undertake activities. All of my clients are individuals, and no two people are the same. All of my clients are treated as such
Find out if Amber Support is for you
I offer a free of charge 30-minute discussion with your family to see if Amber Support provision is something you feel would be right for you, it usually goes on a bit to an hour, but I still don’t charge!
I find that ‘chat’ usually takes over and everyone loses track of time, but I never charge for that initial meeting.
It is incredibly important that everyone in the room is comfortable with me and that often takes time.
What I will stress is that I will always direct the conversation primarily to the person living with dementia as it is vital that they feel included, engaged and central to the decision-making process. It is important that they don’t feel that everyone is speaking for them and especially, over them.
